Why does my servo buzz

I just programmed the dual rates on my transmitters and I was testing it. Weirdly, try to un tighten the screw a little bit and see if that help. I'll see if that works. If I tap the arm a little bit it will stop the noise. So maybe it is just over tightened. Craftydan Hostage Taker of Quads Staff member. Jan 21, One of the side-effects of low end servos -- they don't settle in very happy.

Low end servos have low end potentiometers, slopier gears and slightly dumber control circuits, so once they get the contol horn to the right position, the can bounce ever so slighlty back and forth trying to get the value perfect. When this happens it will buzz as the servo motor is cycled forward and backward bouncing around this position. It will wear them out a little earlier, but we're not talking minutes or hours.

Do keep an ear out for this sound though -- if a servo is binding or trying to move beyond it's limits someting is in the way it can burn out the servo motor fairly quickly we're talking back in the several minutes time frame. At that point it's best to find the bind or block and fix it. I'm not sure what the problem was. I just went in and trimmed it up a bit and the buzzing stopped. And if I change the trim it will begin again.

It's like the set I has a sweet spot. It will. As long as the servo is free to move, it's not doing anything but making noise. MANY of my servos chitter around neutral I buy cheap servos , and a bump on the controls usually quiets them.

Now, during your pre-flight check you do run pre-flight checks, right? Trim as you need to, but don't worry about chitter. You'd rather have a noisy but happy airframe than an out of trim but quiet one. Posted September 13, edited. Also if you've got a place where I can get a rebuild kit I will do that, Have searched online with no joy or maybe I'm not using google to its potential :- Garry.

You may or may not have end point adjustments on your transmitter. Just gives you more flexibility when getting set up. Edited September 13, by Oh How Original. Shudson Posted September 13, It's all sorted now so many thanks to all :- Garry Edited September 13, by Garry Glad you got it sorted Garry.

There are a lot of characteristics that repeat themselves quite regularly. Another thing that might have had the servo 'buzzing' is if the steering is not free moving. If it's not making a noise now, there's no need to go there. As mentioned earlier, in one of the replies I think, there are generally 'trim settings'. Do you have to adjust it a lot to get it to 'centre'? It's best practice to adjust the minimum amount possible.

The servo has a splined shaft that comes out of it. Onto this you fit the servo arm or 'horn', normally a tight fit, held on with a screw.

Couple of things you can check now: 1. How is it now? Hi Atom And thanks again for your help and patience. Not taken it out for a run yet as just building up the courage to fire the thing up ha ha. Used a tad if trim to get it right but its miles better now abd I fully understand the concept ha ha Will get back to you later on how it went so wish me tons of luck from a bricking it noob :- Garry.

Atom Having a bloody mare just getting my car running. Its throwing fuel out the exhaust like its going out of fashion. Ive even set it back to factory settings and no joy. Ive asked for someone near me to help me out. Dont like asking but if I dont im going to end up with a very large and expensive paper weight ha ha Garry.

Back to factory settings is a good start. How are the tubes? If the other guy's familiar with nitro, it's a good start. Also worked out the buzzing noise on the servo but don't no if you agree but it was for me and are you ready ha ha The transmitter was too close to the car and as soon as I got any distance away it stopped and started again when I was near, Am really getting into this lark :- Garry.

Thanks for the resolution advice to I just bought a Spektrum dx6e.

Do I need to center the servos or can I adjust the pushrods to make the ailerons and elevators even. Mad Baron. Its always best to center the servos before attaching the pushrods. You'll do fine adjustments to the pushrods to the control surfaces to achieve even settings, plus it will help while in flight on trimming the plane as you will have enough travel on your trim adjustment.

Hope this helps you out. Jun 6, , AM. Had to do that on my Cessna 2. Jun 7, , AM. I recently had one of my elevator servos start to buzz when at neutral. When I moved the stick it would stop then start again at neutral.
